Sinful Colors Sugar Sugar and Barry M Starlight

Ah post boxing day - a day of utter nothingness. Napping, eating odd combinations of left-overs, watching the dregs of TV....weird, given how packed my days usually are, but it has given me time to do a few things I love; namely, sit of the sofa, gaze at nail blogs, paint my own nails and drink gin and tonics. Slothing at its best!

As i has spare time, I decided to have a search through my polishes and dug out a few untrieds; today I've paired Sinful Colors Sugar Sugar with Barry M Starlight.

Sugar Sugar is a rather lovely red; actually, my favourite red that I've bought so far, it just seems to work with my skin tone. It's also filled with microscopic little specks, giving it an 'inner light' so to speak. The application is better than other Sinful Colors I've tried as well, still a pretty appalling brush but a much better drying time.

The specks are lovely, they give it an unexpected shimmer. It's actually not quite as orang-y as the pictures above suggest, but I'm having major camera issues at the moment so these pictures are the best I can get for now:(

As it's Christmas-time, I decided to go full out sparkle; well, that and the fact that I was undecided about this next polish and so I thought, as I'm not actually planning on leaving the house (still in Xmas pjs, whoop whoop!), I can try it out and no-one has to know if it's awful.

 Apart from you guys:)

So I popped Starlight by Barry M over the top - it's a slightly bonkers combination of large gold and holographic sparkles with specks of glitter and holographic stars. Errrrr...

Let's just say that it works in theory. I mean, yes it's kind of awesome.....but also, it does look like something an 11 year old girl about to go to the school disco at Xmas designed. I think, sadly, maybe I've outgrown this polish - it's just TOO glittery for me. I think gold and holo and stars were just too much....a sad day for me.

Goodbye youth!

Haul!

Oh I've been sooooooooo bad recently! And yet, what with house-hunting, job hunting and wedding planning I've not been able to post:( In fact, I've barely found the time to paint my nails. Foolishly, I decided that I would make as many as the wedding decorations as possible and so have been spending my evenings sewing bunting, making place settings, pinteresting like a crazy lady..................my nails have barely had a look in.

But somehow I've found time to buy polish.....

Starting at the top, going clockwise; Barry M Silk Mist, Barry M Silk Heather, Maybelline White Splatter, Sinful Colours Sugar Sugar, Barry M Aquatic Collection Pacific, Barry M Aquatic Collection Mediterranean, Rimmel Sherbert Sweetheart, Ciate Roller Coaster, Ciate Big Yellow Taxi, Ciate Megaphone.

Swoooooooooon - these little babies are courtesy of one of my lovely work friends - we've been swapping:)

Oh Barry M - you're so good to me:)

Bronze Medal by Claire's swatch

Oh Bronze Medal, how I love thee! You are all sorts of gorgeousness, contained in a tiny bottle of magic for my nails.

A quick fact check - it's by Claire's, it's a dark jelly filled with bronze glitter specs and large squares, it's 100% awesome and you need it in your life!

Random close up lol - but just look at those glitter squares........

This is one coat over Sinful Colors, Rich in Heart, a sexy mahogany brown. I don't think you could build Bronze Medal up to total opacity, but I'm going to find out for sure and get back to you.

 One last picture for luck:)

Caio peeps, have a good Wednesday.

My Christmas mani - a sparkly skittle!

Merry Christmas Eve peeps - are you all prepared for tomorrow? I'm wrapped, packed and full of chocolate roses, so as ready as I can be:)

I've ummed and ahhhhed over my Christmas manicure for a while now. I'm off visiting family for 5 days, so it had to be something that would last and that would fit in with most of my outfits. It had to include glitter (because duh, it's Christmas!). And it has to be nail art, because I need to practice.

Tadah!

These were heavily inspired by the amazing work of the The Nailasaurus, so I can't claim originality, but I'm pleased with how my skittle turned out. I also love the Skandi colours, so very fashionable right now (because, I'm like, all about fashion lol - as I type this, I'm in my pjs with walking socks on to keep my tootsies warm and a scarf wrapped around me).

I think my favourite is the heart; I have to confess, after messing it up several times, eventually I painted the heart of to a plastic poly-pocket and then peeled it off and stuck it on my nail.
Legen- OMG my nails look hot - dary!

These are the polishes that contributed to this mani; from the top, clockwise- Claire's unnamed glitter, Gold Giles Green, Models Own Nail art Pen in White, Barry M Matt White, Barry M Blood Orange, Sinful Colours Rich in Heart, Barry M Red Glitter.

Have an amazing Christmas peeps - I hope you have a wonderful time with your friends and family and that Santa brings you all the nail polish you could ever wish for. x x x x x

Ho Ho Ho* Hottie by Sinful Colors

I'm not sure if this counts as a Christmas colour, what do you guys reckon? It made me think of ice and snow, more winter than Christmas, but still, a lovely colour:)

* Btw, it's actually called Hottie, no ho ho ho-ing, I just felt that made it more Christmas. I actually think the name is a daft one, I'd have gone for something more reminiscent of a mermaid, but that's just me!

Anyway, I've had this a while and have been put off from wearing it by due to it's very sheer opacity. The swatch below is 4 (eeep!) coats and there's still a VNL. It's also nowhere near the colour of the bottle, which makes me a little sad. However, now I've got it on it has grown on me a little bit. Have a look for yourself.

As you can see, it's a very pale blue jelly packed full of large and small iridescent glitter which builds up nicely. It's so full of glitter that it actually dries very quickly, a definite plus when you need 4 coats lol:) I'm going to try this again, but next time layered over a solid colour in attempt to get the sexy bottle colour I crave:)

We all like a Christmas pudding

Wayhay - my first Christmas manicure of 2013.....I bring to you..................

CHRISTMAS PUDDINGS!

I'm so pleased with these; I couldn't stop staring at them:)

I used Barry M Lychee for a neutral base, then painted semi circles on using Barry M Mushroom. I 'iced' my puddings with my Models Own nail art pen, then added a cheery with the ever wonderful Barry M Red Glitter. A randon nail art pen in green was used to add the holly and Sinful Colours Rich in Heart was dotted on for the currents:)

Tra-lah-lah-lah-laahhh, la-la-la-laaaaaaaaaaaaaaah:)

I'm back with a mini haul!

I'm back baby!

I really hope you're all well; apologies that my 'pause' was a bit longer than I had planned, but it's done me the world of good. Things are looking up.

And not just because I've had a mini splurge..........

Whoop whoop - the new special edition polish from Barry M - I got the one from Boots (Left) and from Superdrug (Right). Soooooooo sparkly! The red topped one is drool worthy - think it's going to be a Christmas fave:)

I also picked up the bad boy whilst in Boots; Sinful Colours, Hottie. Wowsa!

Lastly, the sexy flakie (surely an oxymoron?) from Barry M and Countess, MY FIRST TEXTURE POLISH! And boy was it worth waiting for..............

G'day mates!

Hi guys,

I hope you're enjoying the heatwave? I am, with the small exception that I'm having to be on tan alert - I'm a bridesmaid in a few weeks and DO NOT want ridiculous tan lines, so am factor 50-ing up constantly! But still, the sunshine has put me a great mood:)

I'm not really sure where my idea for Aussie themed nails came from, but here they are - the dots were actually very simple, these are ones of those awesome manis that look a lot harder than they actually are:)

I used Barry M Mushroom as a base, then dotted using Sinful Colour Rich in Heart (a deep chocolatey brown that looks good enough to eat!), Barry M Cyan, and various nail art pens (shown below). Like i said, simple:)

Bonza!

Sinful Colours Haul and Rich in Heart Swatch

Holllaaaaaaaaaaaaa! So, what's better than a nail polish haul? A FREE nail polish haul, that's what! Panic not, I haven't been using a 5 fingered discount, instead I've been squireling away my Boots Advantage Points. So when I nipped in today and saw their 3 for 2 offer, I headed straight to their Sinful Colours Range.................

Mini haul! From left to right; Call Me Later, Kissy and Rich in Heart.

I rushed straight home to cover my little pinkies in their shiny polishy goodness. I don't have any dark browns in my collection, so the first I wanted to try was Rich at Heart. It's a chocolatey, mahogany  reddish-brown as you can see below.

It goes on beautifully, but I will say that the brush is AWFUL. Splayed, stray bits, somehow just wonky. So clean up was needed. But the colour.......oh, the colour. Stunning. Can't wait to swatch my other newbies!
