Models Own / Dog's Trust - 24 Carot Gold

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

To celebrate the start of 2015, I'm wearing the brightest, most cheerful shade known to man - a polish that makes me smile like a Cheshire cat (or should that be dog?). I won this polish in a giveaway by Emma from emslittlecorner and loved it, but for some reason I never posted pictures!

So here it is, sunglasses at the ready.....

And then I decided to jazz things up a bit........leopard print, the first one of the year (knowing me, there's much more to come!)

Btw, if you're a Dog's Trust fan, check them out here; how could you not love those adorable faces? I'm campaigning hard with hubby to let me get one, but he keeps reminding me that our two kitties might not like a dog in the house......

.....and i wouldn't want to upset this little cutie, would I?

Hen do nails!

Ok, a tiny post today guys, but I really wanted to show you the photos of my hen do nails. The theme of my hen do was neon (inspired by a visit to a very club-tastic club I went to with one of my besties years ago in Prague) and so clearly, I needed neon nails:) I think I nailed it (ahem, scuse the dreadful punning).

These are all from the Models Own Neon Ice collection, painted over a white base to make them NEON! I thought they were a bit tame on their own though, so added glittery leopard print. I think they are the tackiest/most amazing nails I have ever had lol.

Eeeeeep, only 9 weeks now til the wedding, so excited:)

Barry M Sour Apple over Maybelline Blackout

Happy Wednesday peeps! Hope you're having a great week? Ok, so embarrassingly I'm still working on my untrieds, including using up some of those polishes that, as the time, I needed sooooooo urgently and then.....ahem.....lost in the pile of others. Shame faced. Barry M Sour Apple is one of those polishes; and yet it has remained unused.

Until now! I ummmed and arrrrrh about what to pair it with and decided that a dark background would help it pop and boy was I right. I love this combo; what do you think?

Barry M Yellow Topaz Glitter over Elizabeth Street

Hola - hope you guys are all doing well and enjoying some summer:)

So this combo was inspired by one of my lovely friends Jen. She has lovely nails, probably because she lets them go au natural most of the time. Anyhoo, at the her hen do the other day she asked me to paint a layer of Barry M Yellow Topaz Glitter over her bare nails. It looked stunning, and reminded me why I love this polish.

Now, there's no way I'd reveal my real nails, so I went with a base coat of Nails Inc Elizabeth Street, a very soft pink that goes on smoothly.

My goodness, how did I forget about this baby? Gold and holographic glitters in a variety of different sizes, amazing:) Soooooooo cute!

ps - this is a scheduled post, so please don't be offended if I don't reply to any comments.

Did I Tell You - there's going to be Sunshine!

Hey guys, this is another glitter-tastic baby from my recent haul.

This is the lovely Did I Tell You by H&M - my goodness, they're selling some stunners at the moment. I painted it (easily, no placing, good smooth application) over one of my older polishes, Sunshine by Rimmel.

Nom nom nom, strawberry nails.

Wow, what a day; beautiful sunshine, torrential rain, then sunshine again - confused much? The kitties and I have been hibernating indoors today, beginning to pack ready for the big trip this Saturday - Peru and Argentina here we come!

(Lol - have just read that paragraph and realised that it sounds like I'm going to Peru and Argentina with my cats! No so thankfully, not sure they'd be up for it).

So before the rain set in i was in a very summery frame of mind, and so tried my hand at a bit of nail art - strawberries, the fruit that means SUMMER!

These were shockingly easy, I used Pink Blush and Red Alert for the base colours, and then draw on leaves using Green Tea (all Models Own). Then I used my lovely nail art pens to add a bit of extra detail.

A bit of advanced warning - I know I'm not the most regular of bloggers: usually I only post a couple of times a week. This is mainly because, as much as I love polish and nail art, I have many other commitments to keep up with. Whilst I am away (three whole weeks of holiday!!!) I'm planning on scheduling posts, probably a couple a week still. If they don't work, please bear with me lol:)

Color Club Take Wing collection - Daisy Does It swatch

Oooooooooooooooooooooh I love TKMaxx! Love, love, LOVE! I nipped in the other day to pick up some holiday stuff (less than two weeks, woooooohooooo!) and found the Take Wing Collection by Color Club.

I've never been that fussed about shimmery polishes, but these......well, WOW!

Oooooooooooooh, look at those. They're all gorgeous colours, and I'm swatching them as we speak, but that yellow! Swoon:) I rarely love yellow, but this one is stunning. It's got the cutest name, Daisy Does It, and for me it is just summer in a bottle!

It's a very sheer colour, so I layered it over Rimmel Sunshine. This is 3 coats of Daisy does It, and I love the shimmer that builds with each coat. It makes it a very easy yellow to wear; I find it isn't a great colour on me but the shimmer softens it and makes it a lot more flattering. If, when winter rolls back round, I want to remember the summer, this shall be the polish of choice:)

G'day mates!

Hi guys,

I hope you're enjoying the heatwave? I am, with the small exception that I'm having to be on tan alert - I'm a bridesmaid in a few weeks and DO NOT want ridiculous tan lines, so am factor 50-ing up constantly! But still, the sunshine has put me a great mood:)

I'm not really sure where my idea for Aussie themed nails came from, but here they are - the dots were actually very simple, these are ones of those awesome manis that look a lot harder than they actually are:)

I used Barry M Mushroom as a base, then dotted using Sinful Colour Rich in Heart (a deep chocolatey brown that looks good enough to eat!), Barry M Cyan, and various nail art pens (shown below). Like i said, simple:)

Bonza!

Barry M Confetti Special Effects - Sour Apple swatch

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUL!

Ooooh I was sooooooo naughty today; I was feeling a bit delicate after the lethal combination of late night wine consumption + early morning rising to look after small children. Gaaaah! and they're not even MY children lol. Cute enough though. But still..........crying at 7.15 is painful. So when I walked past Superdrug, well, I headed on in........................et voila!

And the best part? It was buy 2, get a Limited Edition polish for free! Which of course meant it was ok to buy four Barry M Confetti polishes:)

The Confetti polishes are just gorgeous. I've seen various swatches form various bloggers and was beginning to get a tad stressed that I did not have them myself. There are 5 in all, but the Marshmallow (pink and white glitter) just didn't do anything for me, so I went with four. Very virtuous:) The Limited Edition polishes are also great, jelly like and very sheer, perfect for jelly sanwiches.............more of them to come later I feel.

Annnnnnnyhoooooo, onto my first foray into the world of Confetti! I went for Sour Apple,  a combination of blue and yellow bars of glitter. I decided to layer them over Barry M Berry Ice-Cream, a stunning lilac polish (so stunning, I've almost finished it!).

Sour Apple applies easily, this is one thick coat, but from what I've seen you could layer it up to be pretty much opaque. However, although I'd intended to do that, when I saw this I couldn't bear to change it; it looked like a Zap ice-cream/lolly (anyone else know what I mean?). I love, love, love this range, I'm so excited about the rest of my haul:)

Models Own Neon Ice Collection

Ok, you might need to get some sunnies guys, cos I'm rocking the Models Own Neon Ice collection and it is BRIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT! I'm talking 90's neon! From left to right, Luis Lemon, Pink Punch and Toxic Apple (I also treated myself to Pukka Purple, but it didn't fit in with my plan for today).

As with most neons, they're pretty sheer, so I layered them over white to make them pop! They dry very quickly and have a slightly rubbery texture, but a top coat sorts that easily (I'm all about the shine!)

I think these are some on my favourite polishes in terms of colour - they're unbelievable neon, in fact they're the first polishes I've put on and thought, "I need to tone these down a tad!" Hence I've made these truly rave-tastic.........

Uuuuh huuuh yeah, when I hold you baayayabeeeeeeeee, feel your heart beat close to me.......

Hope this love can last foreeeeveeeeeeeeer, oooooonly love can set you freeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

He he he, loving that these nails just make me want to dance to 90's dance anthems, in fact I'm off out tonight and will be requesting N-Trance in every club I visit! That's how these nails make me feel; happy and ravey lol!

Oh, and this is a photo of my mani with a highlighter - soooooooooooo neon!!!!

Have a great weekend peeps, and if you see a very tall girl with neon nails raving like a loon ...........come say hi. Or run in the opposite direction lol, it's not gonna be a pretty sight:)

WHAM, BAM, POW! Litchenstein nail art!

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeep I'm so proud of these nails, but totally heartbroken that my topcoat failed me:( I'd been dying to try out some nail art inspired by Litchenstein, and finally got round to it (it took blooming forever, as I'd suspected, so I waited until a rainy Sunday). It was all going so well..........

It doesn't look too bad in the photos, but my top coat was a total nightmare. I've been using Sally Hansen 'No Chip' topcoat for a while; it dries fast and has an incredible shine. But, barely half way through the bottle, it's turned into a sticky, gooey mess that shrinks on the nails. These were taken quite quickly after being topcoated - a good job, an hour later the cracks had set in and the side of my nails looked horrendous. Gutted.

My quest for the perfect topcoat continues.................
