My Christmas mani - a sparkly skittle!

Merry Christmas Eve peeps - are you all prepared for tomorrow? I'm wrapped, packed and full of chocolate roses, so as ready as I can be:)

I've ummed and ahhhhed over my Christmas manicure for a while now. I'm off visiting family for 5 days, so it had to be something that would last and that would fit in with most of my outfits. It had to include glitter (because duh, it's Christmas!). And it has to be nail art, because I need to practice.

Tadah!

These were heavily inspired by the amazing work of the The Nailasaurus, so I can't claim originality, but I'm pleased with how my skittle turned out. I also love the Skandi colours, so very fashionable right now (because, I'm like, all about fashion lol - as I type this, I'm in my pjs with walking socks on to keep my tootsies warm and a scarf wrapped around me).

I think my favourite is the heart; I have to confess, after messing it up several times, eventually I painted the heart of to a plastic poly-pocket and then peeled it off and stuck it on my nail.
Legen- OMG my nails look hot - dary!

These are the polishes that contributed to this mani; from the top, clockwise- Claire's unnamed glitter, Gold Giles Green, Models Own Nail art Pen in White, Barry M Matt White, Barry M Blood Orange, Sinful Colours Rich in Heart, Barry M Red Glitter.

Have an amazing Christmas peeps - I hope you have a wonderful time with your friends and family and that Santa brings you all the nail polish you could ever wish for. x x x x x

Pastel chevrons

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, what an awesome morning. A lazy get up, Marmite on toast and coffee in the garden, kitty cuddles, happiness:)

I not sure about you guys, but I have a definite summer/winter mindset when it comes to nail polish; I want bright, bright, bright or summery pastels in the sunshine, and darker, deeper polish in winter. This mani is a definite summer baby - glossy, lovely pastels:) Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

This isn't an original idea, but I can't remember where I saw it - doh! Anyhoo, this is my take on it, using my trusty Barry M pastels (Strawberry Ice Cream, Berry Ice Cream, Mint Green and Peach Melba) plus my favourite pastel ever, Adora-Bleu by Bourjois:)

I used striping tape for the mani which resulted in a teeny mishap; the tape was blue and left a small stain on the lilac nail-grrrrrr! But I do love this; it's summer, but with an edge!

G'day mates!

Hi guys,

I hope you're enjoying the heatwave? I am, with the small exception that I'm having to be on tan alert - I'm a bridesmaid in a few weeks and DO NOT want ridiculous tan lines, so am factor 50-ing up constantly! But still, the sunshine has put me a great mood:)

I'm not really sure where my idea for Aussie themed nails came from, but here they are - the dots were actually very simple, these are ones of those awesome manis that look a lot harder than they actually are:)

I used Barry M Mushroom as a base, then dotted using Sinful Colour Rich in Heart (a deep chocolatey brown that looks good enough to eat!), Barry M Cyan, and various nail art pens (shown below). Like i said, simple:)

WHAM, BAM, POW! Litchenstein nail art!

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeep I'm so proud of these nails, but totally heartbroken that my topcoat failed me:( I'd been dying to try out some nail art inspired by Litchenstein, and finally got round to it (it took blooming forever, as I'd suspected, so I waited until a rainy Sunday). It was all going so well..........

It doesn't look too bad in the photos, but my top coat was a total nightmare. I've been using Sally Hansen 'No Chip' topcoat for a while; it dries fast and has an incredible shine. But, barely half way through the bottle, it's turned into a sticky, gooey mess that shrinks on the nails. These were taken quite quickly after being topcoated - a good job, an hour later the cracks had set in and the side of my nails looked horrendous. Gutted.

My quest for the perfect topcoat continues.................

Dots and hearts using Models Own Nude Beige

Hey peeps,

I've been MIA for a few days as I've been travelling round the north of our fair country visiting people and drinking beer. Happily I do have a rather smashing mani for you - can you tell I'm proud of this one?

This is based on a top I wore at the weekend - I used the dotting tools from my Bundle Monster kit and cut out tape templates for the hearts, I'm chuffed, chuffed, flipping chuffed with these:)

I'm a bit gutted as my Models Own Nude Beige, the base for this, is getting a bit gloopy - can anyone recommend a good thinner?

Lovely ladybirds:)

Ahhhh I've finally scratched that itch - the need to do something a bit different and mismatched, yet coordinated and fun:) So may I present....Ladybird nails!

I'm so pleased with how these turned out, I love the red and black combo, which is a first for me - I usually hate the two colours together. The red is a Maybelline one (the label came off, so no idea what it's actually called) but it has gorgeous application and is very glossy even without a topcoat.

The glitter on my little finger nail is of course Barry M Red Glitter (what else?!) and as always, is fab and brill and many other superlatives thrown in for good measure:)
Boo seemed to like these as well. Silly kitty:)

Only two days til the weekend - can't wait!

Children in Need nails and kitty crimes!

Hi de hi peeps, hope you've had a good weekend and are looking forward to an awesome weekend?

My workplace get's very into Children in Need, so I spent today working in my pyjamas, laughing at my equally oddly clad collegues - it's very odd when you have to talk to someone about something serious, and they're wearing a onesy!

Anyway, I thought my nails should look as ridiculous as the rest of me, so voila! Based on Pudsey's bandanna  I'm pretty pleased with them, I even managed to relax enough to do random dots, rather than strictly lined ones:)

I finally found a use for a lovely creamy colour by Nails Inc, called Old Queen Street. It's got a lovely golden shimmer throughout it, but is a bit of a mare to wear - this is 4 coats to achieve opacity, it would probably work great as part of a traditional French manicure though, and does dry quickly.  The dots are various Barry M colours, applied with the end of a kirby grip (still not got around to buying a dotting tool!)

****************************************************************

You haven't had any gratuitous kitty photos for a while, so I thought I'd treat you with a shocking expose of Monty's secret guilty pleasure - stealing MY water!

Contemplating the crime....
Attempting the crime.....
Commiting the crime!
 Yuk!

Dots and stripes!

Greetings peeps. Hope you've had a good Monday (if such things exist!). I had a manic, but fun, day, especially after getting several compliments for my new nails. I got inspiration for this from Prima Creative, which features some amazing designs. After a breif fling with various other nail polishes, I have returned to my favoured Barry M cherubs for this design. I have to admit that I'm not a huge fan of the base coat (a bit salmony looking and too chalky) but with these colours it stands out:)

Presenting tape and dots mani - the first of many I think:)
