Barry M Sour Apple over Maybelline Blackout

Happy Wednesday peeps! Hope you're having a great week? Ok, so embarrassingly I'm still working on my untrieds, including using up some of those polishes that, as the time, I needed sooooooo urgently and then.....ahem.....lost in the pile of others. Shame faced. Barry M Sour Apple is one of those polishes; and yet it has remained unused.

Until now! I ummmed and arrrrrh about what to pair it with and decided that a dark background would help it pop and boy was I right. I love this combo; what do you think?

Barry M Boots Special Edition polish - bar glitter

Oh wow - this polish is a party in a bottle...a stunning combination of bar glitter in what I consider to be some pretty dam Christmassy colours, red, green and purple (ok, purple isn't traditional, but for me it's the colour of Quality Street wrappers, and they ARE Christmassy:)

I layered this lovely over GOSH Deep Purple. Et volia!

My camera made the purple look a bit blue, apologies:)

Anyhoo, the best of parties are often followed by hangover. And so it is with this polish. The bar glitter is a pain in the ahem! It sticks out over the nail, sticks up in the air, I actually had to pick out pieces using tweezers. However, I got so many compliments about these, it was almost worth it (almost - I almost sliced my corneas off when doing my contact lenses!)

Would I wear it again? Er, probably. But on a day I was wearing my specs:)

Barry M Special Edition (Boots) swatch - pic heavy!

Ahhhhh Barry M - you're too good to us; more special editions, whoop whoop!

I've noticed a lot of companies are doing bar glitters now, so I've been keen to try these for a while. This is the Boots version, a lovely mix of gold and pale pink glitter bars in a clear base. I popped it over two different bases, one pale and one darker.

The first swatch is over Mod About You by O.P.I. It's a lovely pale pink, which I think works as a subtle base for the glitter.

 Yeah, I like this.

But I LOVE this..................

Ohhhhhhhh this is so much better over dark colours - it makes the gold pop and lets that pink stand out as well:) This is Barry M Blackberry, a colour I've fallen back in love with; perfect for autumn days. This manicure is so lovely that fiancee commented on them without even being asked! Unprecedented!

As for the glitter? Well, it's a total pain in the ahem, but it is bar glitter, so we already knew that. It needs some serious spreading as it has a tendency to clump together, but a bit of gentle spreading solves that. And it's worth it.

I'm back with a mini haul!

I'm back baby!

I really hope you're all well; apologies that my 'pause' was a bit longer than I had planned, but it's done me the world of good. Things are looking up.

And not just because I've had a mini splurge..........

Whoop whoop - the new special edition polish from Barry M - I got the one from Boots (Left) and from Superdrug (Right). Soooooooo sparkly! The red topped one is drool worthy - think it's going to be a Christmas fave:)

I also picked up the bad boy whilst in Boots; Sinful Colours, Hottie. Wowsa!

Lastly, the sexy flakie (surely an oxymoron?) from Barry M and Countess, MY FIRST TEXTURE POLISH! And boy was it worth waiting for..............

Models Own Hed Kandi Sunset Chillout swatch

There's a party on my nails, and everyone's invited!!!!

O.M.Flipping.G - this is, to paraphrase the Fresh Prince, DA BOMB!

BTW, if you're thinking, "gosh, Emma's never done a close up shot of a glitter polish before", that's because I haven't. I ONLY JUST realised my camera could do this. So yes, I am a total muppet:) Anyhoo, look at the baby; large blue hexes, orange, green and gold medium hexes, small purple squares, small pink, blue and green hexes, holographic bars............my god, it's stunning.

Because there are soooooooo many different glitters in here, it was tricky to match it, the best results I found were over In The Navy, another Models Own classic. Honestly, I love this glitter so much it's smashed it's way into my top 10! Happyness is glittery nails:)

Ps - this is a scheduled post, I'm on my hols, so please don't be offended if I don't reply to comments:) x

Barry M Confetti Liquorice swatch

I could not take the neon pink of that I posted about yesterday, but I wanted to change it up a bit.....hence the addition of another of my newbies, Liquorice, from the Barry M confetti collection:)

This applied beautifully, the above is one coat over the Special Edition Neon Pink, also by Barry M. Liquorice is a total winner for me, it would look gorgeous over almost anything, I can't wait to try a few other combinations!

Barry M Confetti Special Effects - Sour Apple swatch

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUL!

Ooooh I was sooooooo naughty today; I was feeling a bit delicate after the lethal combination of late night wine consumption + early morning rising to look after small children. Gaaaah! and they're not even MY children lol. Cute enough though. But still..........crying at 7.15 is painful. So when I walked past Superdrug, well, I headed on in........................et voila!

And the best part? It was buy 2, get a Limited Edition polish for free! Which of course meant it was ok to buy four Barry M Confetti polishes:)

The Confetti polishes are just gorgeous. I've seen various swatches form various bloggers and was beginning to get a tad stressed that I did not have them myself. There are 5 in all, but the Marshmallow (pink and white glitter) just didn't do anything for me, so I went with four. Very virtuous:) The Limited Edition polishes are also great, jelly like and very sheer, perfect for jelly sanwiches.............more of them to come later I feel.

Annnnnnnyhoooooo, onto my first foray into the world of Confetti! I went for Sour Apple,  a combination of blue and yellow bars of glitter. I decided to layer them over Barry M Berry Ice-Cream, a stunning lilac polish (so stunning, I've almost finished it!).

Sour Apple applies easily, this is one thick coat, but from what I've seen you could layer it up to be pretty much opaque. However, although I'd intended to do that, when I saw this I couldn't bear to change it; it looked like a Zap ice-cream/lolly (anyone else know what I mean?). I love, love, love this range, I'm so excited about the rest of my haul:)
